Michelle Monaghan Joins the Fire Club.

Michelle Monaghan joins the redhead club. Monaghan showed off her fiery looks at the Toronto Film Festival on Monday.  According to some this cut and color seem to be quite the  resemblance to The Help star, Emma Stone..... I guess I see it.

"
On Sunday night she was recognized at the Creative Coalition's 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards for her work in the film, which is based on an inspirational true story of a drug dealer who transforms his life.
"To be honored with a Spotlight Award means a lot to me, actually," Monaghan said. "I think it's important to recognize projects that take a risk, and this one isn't afraid to confront the audience with some tough material."

Michele Bachmann's Hair Is Looking Good...

Although her comments have been leaving many in confusion and displeasure, we are not here to discuss politics. So love her or hate her this is all about the hair!

It seems as if her hair is progressively getting better and clients are noticing.

Its funny how fashion/hair can supersede politics; but I must admit, I love it.

Here is a bit of an expert from the nydailynews.com

    "
I called [Michele's] stylist Tamara Robertson, whose $4,700 hair-and-makeup bills Bachmann paid for with campaign cash.
But Robertson wouldn't reveal the Tea Party darling's color secrets.
"I'm sorry," Robertson said. "Because of who I work for, I was told not to talk about it."
But it's not just me asking.
Top stylists from New York to Hollywood told me their liberal clients are guiltily requesting the Bachmann Look.
"A lot of clients have asked for Sarah Palin hair in the past four years, and now, it's Bachmann," says Andi Scarbrough of Byu-ty Hair Therapy in L.A. "Politicians are the new celebrities, because they're real. They didn't just spring up out of the red carpet."
However, she admits, "I have women who come in with photos with the face cut out sometimes."
"She has great coppery color that warms her up a little bit," said Angelo David at his E. 43rdSt. salon, who confirmed a spike in copycat requests for the candidate's look. "Not everybody wants to look like Kim Kardashian."
Bachmann's style "is safe, but not soccer mom. It's sexy," said Alma Qeraxhiu at her AlmaG Salon and Spa on E. 21st. St.
"I have found it a little bit amazing how many women have been coming in asking for her hair style, even though they don't agree with her politics."

Reality Star Whitney Port Sports a New Shade of Red

    When your bored go Red.

That seems to be the trend right now anyways and I have no problem with that!

It's exactly what reality star Whitney Port did. Relying on colorist Johnny Ramirez of Neil George.

“I needed a change. I’ve kind of had ADD with my hair color.”

When asked if she would be changing it up again once the summer is headed to an end, she responded saying "Probably"

New trend on it's way?.... Maybe so, either way I am loving this one and you should join in on the fun!

(In fact make sure to check out a few posts back to check out a whole slew of fun red hair color formulas - READ HERE.)

What do you think of this hairstylists?

Katherine Heigl Cuts her hair and we want to know what you think?

Of course my thoughts!: I actually dig it! I just would like to see the back a bit shorter. I think it totally has a 90's vibe. I think if you clean the back a little shorter it will just be a little less "MOM". Opinions are fun aren't they?

    Whats yours?

    P.S. I love the color

Elisabeth Moss debuted a new 'do at the International Emmy Awards in NYC on Monday. She lightened her normally brunette bob to a blonder, shaggier style. [StyleList]

    BEFORE

    AFTER

    THOUGHTS:
Elisabeth is a beautiful girl with an amazing skin tone that could pretty much wear anything. After seeing her with the dark and the light next to each other I think I prefer her as a brunette, but the blonde she pulls off well. Her skin tone is perfect for both of these shades and she is one of those stars that can pretty much wear it all.

    FORMULA:
Taking a brunette to a blonde can be rather difficult on previously color treated hair, but if done properly can be easy and beautiful.

Step 1: Know your desired tone and lightness. Ideally working from a brown golden shade it would be best for your desired result to stay within the warm golden family, as seen on Elisabeth in this picture.

Step 2: Decide the amount of blonde that is desired in the overall look. This will help you to determine the intensity of the blonde shade and amount of highlights that are necessary.

Step 3: Using a lightener, pre-lighten the hair to a level lighter than the end result (this will vary depending on the tone and lightness) by using a foil technique to match the desired intensity of blonde. Ideally you will want to highlight in a random fashion with lots of baby fine highlights.

*My suggestion - pre-lighten with a cream based lightener (10 - 30 volume depending on the texture) to a level 8/9 yellow color (pale yellow is not needed) *** If the hair is chemical treated on the ends but not in the regrowth (zone 1) you may need to adjust the formula in this section to a lower developer.

Step 4: Glaze the hair with the desired level and tonality.

*My suggestion - Glaze the hair with a Demi based hair color (such as shades EQ) level 8 Gold. My formula with a pre-lightened level 8/9 yellow would be equal parts 9G & 7GB. **Note: this changes according to the desired tonality and result of the pre-lightened color. It is also important that the pre-lightened color is equally lifted to a balanced result, if there is an inconsistency to the pre-lightened color, there will be an inconsistency to the end result.

    THE END!!!

American Music Awards 2010 Hair Trends

For those of you who missed the American Music Awards this year here is a quick recap of everything hair!

Well the first and most obvious trend would be that many played it down. A lot of loose textured waves, with a very low maintenance feel. Check it out:

Jessica Alba was one of the few that brought a classic elegance to the party. Maybe it's the whole movie star thing? Either way I love the idea of her hair, I am not crazy about it on her:

Jenny McCarthy and Taylor Swift really showed something unique to their normal styles and I loved it! Especially Taylor Swift, she looks amazing and her hair color is flawless!:

Last but certainly not least: is that Kelly Osbourne or Dolly Parton? Well some how I kind of like this style. I think I like the idea more than I like her wearing this style. The truth is Dolly Parton is amazing and bringing any trend with the inspiration of Dolly kinda makes me smile:

Great Article For Guests Looking To Go Dark

This is a fabulous article on any and all information about people wishing to enter the world of a brunette!

From the truths to the myths to the opinions as a stylists this has tons of information for your guests or for you to share with them!

Those of you who are non stylists this is a must read!

    Check it out:

    "
If you're thinking of going darker with your locks, winter is just around the corner! So, what are you waiting for?

"Women who choose a darker color create more contrast, giving the hair a fuller look with more definition and texture," says Ludovic Audesson, celebrity colorist at Pierre Michel Salon in New York City. "In addition to being very chic, dark hair is not trendy or a fad -- it's really more of a statement!"

If that's the case, why do so many women choose to go lighter?

Hair Colorist Wednesday: Celebrity Hair Color Formula

This week we are going to break down Jessica Biel's new color. Thoughts, opinions, etc!

Tis the season to be brown right?

So lets start with my thoughts.

Personally, for me it's just a tad to dark. I think on her I would have loved to see a level lighter.

With that said, I would like to state that I am quite the fan of this color. I think it's a beautiful fall color and I love the concept of keeping the subtle dimension underneath.

Oooooober trendy in a subtle way and I am cool with that.

You know getting back to my opinion... as I am writing this I am looking back at her with this color and I know what would make me love this on her! It's the brows. Give her a darker or stronger brow and I am all in for this shade on her!

So enough with the fuss right? Lets get on with it. And of course this is my concept/opinion of the formula, I would love to hear yours as well!

    Formula:

Looking at this shade I see a lot of depth and a lot of background. Not quite as much tonality to this shade. The process of filling is a non factor if formulated properly and working with two formulas - The top and bottom sections.

Lets start with the formula on top - Level 3N (Neutral) and equal parts Level 4G (Gold Brown) of your favorite Demi based permanent hair color.

Now the highlighted areas - Level 5G (Gold Brown) and equal parts Level 4WG (Warmest Gold Brown - yellow/orange tone)

    What do you think?
