Check out this great video showcasing Giuseppe Zanotti from Millan Fashion Week 2012.  His shoes are amazing and the collection is so large but still has such a a great cohesiveness; I love it.

With an inspiration from "a girl from the 70's" with an African twist of details and colors, Zanotti creates his collection using a lot of texture and volume.

His inspiration really comes out within this collection. I think there is a lot of strength in the choice of colors and shape in what he's doing. "The shoes in the 70's were a little more aggressive..... [these] shoes are a little more ergonomic.... sweet."

As a hair stylist I love the idea of building inspiration from something like this. It is so much fun when we are able to truly find inspiration in our Fashion. Personally I am so drawn to the use of the texture... with the combination of the colors.

Another piece of this video that was so great was the passion he had for his work. It really shows when someone cares and puts their heart and soul (no pun intended) into what they do. I think it shines through... some how your work is just better. To me that is just such an amazing lesson!

Happy Birthday Winona Ryder: 10.29.1971

Randomly trying to find something interesting to blog about- I happen to find out that today is the birthday of 1990's movie girl Winona Ryder.

Now I know that Winona isn't what we would call "current," but growing up she had many movies that were part of my life: Beetlejuice, Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael, Mermaids, Reality Bites, Little Women, Edward Scissorhands...

As I was looking through endless pics of her on the internet I started to realize how much she influenced (or was influenced) by fashion through the years. Kudos for her for changing it up and keeping it new and fresh.

So I guess this was a nice throw back to the 90's for me...and welp, since the 90s are in, maybe Winona will continue to inspire us in the fashion world.

If you have a minute check out all the looks she has pulled off.

Happy Birthday Winona!

As always, save us a fun-size candy bar from your trick-or-treat bag as thanks. (Just no, Smarties please!)
Today, we’ll walk you through how to add a splash of pink to your Halloween bash with our Nicki Minaj costume guide. Jump below to check it out.
“Super Bass” Nicki Minaj:
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • A pink wig (like this one from Nicki’s site)
  • White rib tank top or men’s undershirt
  • Distressed jean cutoffs (be sure to roll them down like the Harajuku Barbie)
  • Hot pink Doc Martens
  • And of course a prominently displayed yellow push-up bra (like this sassy lady from Victoria’s Secret) with matching undies.

MTV VMA Barbie:
What you’ll need:

Pink Friday Minaj:
What you’ll need:
  • Once again, a pink Nicki wig
  • Either replicate the rapper’s outfit with a sparkly bustier and silver tutu or opt for a silver, shiny dress like this.
  • Pink platform lace-up ankle boots (these should be a close enough match)
  • Silver beaded cuff bracelets

Inspiration Woman #1: Jenny Lewis

Want to see what a perfect redhead looks like? Then just Google Jenny Lewis.

You may or may not know her from "Troop Beverly Hills," "The Wizard," the lead singer of the best band ever- Rilo Kiley...she has dated Jake Gyllenhaal, set some awesome hipster trends, rocked ruffle socks with Mary Janes, brought back sultry 70's styles...I kinda idolize her so I apologise for my high praises of her if you do not agree with me.

I have to say she is one of my main inspirations...check her music out if you have never heard of her by the way.

Anyhow- her wavy, natural looking red locks always makes my heart flutter a little bit. Not only does this girl portray a shy and demure lady at times, but can also pull of a hot and fierce woman that you don't wanna f*%k with.

And who doesn't want the versatility of being the girl next door to the vamp? SO CHECK IT...JENNY LEWIS...

So I was having a discussion with a guest of mine while working behind the chair today and I figured I just had to share this for the costume of the day.

Personally I think this is brilliant! In fact to share a little bit about my self... it's totally where I am going with my Halloween this year.

1980's wrestling costumes.

Now for all of those of you reading this who are females don't worry, there is a whole club of female wrestlers! They are dubbed G. L. O. W. - The Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling.

Do you remember this?? If you do your amazing!! Either way this is definitely a must for Halloween. Also, it's extremely easy and you get to wear super huge 80's hair!

Also Please Watch This!:

For all the guys out there, it is pretty much endless. But if your lost here are some great buys from amazon:

Sargent Slaughter

And of course your classics.... Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior.... the list goes on and on... But one thing is for sure with male wrestlers THERE WERE A LOT OF MULLETS!!

TiEd ThE KnOt- Too HOt tO TrOt BrAidS!!!!

Not to toot my own horn...but what is the point in saying that when I am actually up on a trend, kudos to me. (I'm not as cocky as I seem- give a girl a break.) So I was just browsing hair styles for fancy like occasions and stumbled upon this little pic:

What I am trying to get it as that I recently got married, hitched, tied the knot, ball and chain, yadda yadda yadda- and cliche as it was, it was the best day of my life. Anyways- the hair styles for my ladies had all kinds of braid like elements. One girl had the middle bottom pic look- a little bit Swedish Heide meets NYC, One of my girls had the top middle look, all of my flowers girls had the middle row left pic hairstyle- so cute by the way. I love the whimsy and care free look that messy braids create. It is so "I really don't give a crap about my hair because I have better things to do- but it somehow looks totally awesome." If you don't agree- next time you are off to a high society function- or a bingo game with some hot 80 year olds- throw that hair into a messy care free braid and just wait- next time you are out, I guarantee someone will be sporting the same 'do they saw on you!

Have you seen Beyoncé's New Video "Party"

You need to! Not only is she getting her hair highlighted in the video, the Fashion in this video is HOT HOT HOT!!!

It uses a killer filter on the video so it has a really cool summer vintage vibe, which flows really well with the fashion showcased. The song has a good beat, slow tempo; just a really chill song.

Enough talking about it. Check it Out!

Halloween Costume Of The Day!!

Looking for something a little more.......  "Provocative?"

This one is for you! Chances are you're already sweet.. right? So, you might as well show it off!

But, It's not enough to just be a BAG OF SKITTLES. This is for hair stylists remember!!

So, you have to make the hair "TASTE THE RAINBOW"

Try these on for size!:

Looking For A Perfect Fall Length For Your Hair? Julianne Hough Knows Where It's At

Looking for that perfect length? Not to short and over the length? Julianne Hough has got you covered. Not sure if you saw her hair yet, but I think it is a great length and style for the fall.

A Salon (SPY) witness tells that Hough and a friend came into Los Angeles' Nine Zero One salon last Thursday.
"She was in a super good mood because it was her first day being done with all her [Footloose] press." "She wanted to cut her hair off to get it healthy from all the styling since she doesn't work until the new year."

Tons of texture and movement give this style everything it needs and like the quote said... best part... it's easy! In fact its very reminisent of Jennifer Anistons new look from August.

Looking to take it up a notch? Try adding strength in the color with lots of dimension. This will help to bring out the texture more and keep the maintenance way down! For stylists and clients.... everyone loves low maintenance.

Hair Stylist Costume Of The Day!

So we decided with Halloween Coming!!.... we would give you some great Halloween costume ideas up until the big day.

Every day expect to see the "Hair Stylist Costume Idea of the day!" I mean come on... If your a Hair Stylist it needs to be epic, hot and stylish!

So... with out further waiting here is today's costume of the day.......

HA... yeah not really, I think we can do better than that....

I'm loving this idea. For all you Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Fans this one is for you. Lisbeth has everything you need to make this Halloween killer and you can do it super cheap... just take a look at everything above, chances are you already have most of what's there. Want to take it further? Go for the cut!

"Being Lisbeth involves two things: an all-black ensemble and a penchant for pain. (Don't worry, you can fake the latter.) Start with the basics: a pair of liquid leather leggings (we like these from American Apparel), a black tank top (only $5 at Old Navy), a leather jacket (check out this cheap option from Forever 21) and a pair of heavy-duty black boots—the better to kick your enemies right in their motherfrankin' teeth. Then, accessorize with short black hair (a wig works, if you don't want to chop your own locks), a spiked collar and a faux septum piercing, and, of course, a large dragon tattoo on your upper back. Smokey eyes complete your Lisbeth look... along with a raging desire to issue an epic beatdown or two."

Audrina Patridge Goes Blonde... What do you think?

Audrina Patridge showcased a new look when she showed up to an appearance at Sears in Los Cerritos promoting Bongo jeans The 26-year-old actress was seen sporting a dramatic change by lightening up her locks with a blond ombre effect.

According to Patridge this look feels a little more natural and "[my] natural hair color is actually a dirty, light blond."

It's interesting to still see this ombre look in the mainstream light. It's something I thought would have more than likely died down by now; more than it has anyways. Even though we are seeing a little less and less of this look, we are still seeing it.

With that said, I love the change on her and I do think its a perfect fit for her.
